Exciting Changes, Coming Your Way!
Topic: Site Builder News

We've been listening to your feedback and have been hard at work for the past few months to improve Webon and Tripod to meet your requests. As we began upgrading Webon, it quickly became apparent that we weren't just making small changes here and there. While the basic functionality and features of Webon were remaining the same, many aspects of the editor were drastically changing.

These exciting changes don't just run skin deep.  Underneath the hood, Webon isn't the same builder any more, and with such radical changes (and even more updates planned for the future) it no longer makes sense to refer to this tool as Webon.  So, with great pleasure, we're proud to introduce to you Zeeblio.  A new beginning in building fun and easy to maintain websites.

Zeeblio is faster and more sleek with an updated interface making it easier to maneuver around and update your website.  Transitioning from Webon to Zeeblio will be an easy process since Zeeblio is built on the foundation of the best parts of Webon. We've listened to your suggestions on how draging and dropping in Webon could be improved, and have made this a more refined process. Check out zeeblio.com to watch a quick video of Zeeblio in action and to read more about the new and improved features.

With these changes to our site builder, it made sense to release another update that we had been planning for some time: Tripod is getting a series of updates over the next few months.  The first of these changes will affect Tripod visually with redesigned pages and an easier to use control panel.  In the coming months, you can expect many new and exciting features to be added to Tripod.  Some of which, you've been asking for a long time. (more on that soon!)

Next week we'll be releasing the brand new Tripod with Zeeblio for you to try out.  Webon will still be around for the remainder of October, giving you time to continue to update your website with Webon, while getting comfortable with Zeeblio before before it replaces the former.

Featured Friday: David Tennant
Topic: Featured Friday

If you've ever met a fan of Doctor Who, you've probably heard the name David Tennant. As one of the most beloved Doctors from the famed BBC sci-fi show, David Tennant has acquired quite a following over the years. Although his reign as the Doctor ended as he regenerated into the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith), his fans remained loyal, including the webmaster of today's Featured Friday site who brings us the amazing fan-site of David-Tennant.com.

If you miss your Chuck Taylor-wearing, rambunctious 10th Doctor, David-Tennant.com is the best place to go to find out what he's up to. Read reviews about his upcoming films, watch or read interviews, see the schedule for upcoming shows that he's in, or even book tickets to his upcoming events.

This website is beautifully put together with an easy-to-follow flow of information. Only want to know about upcoming films? There's a link for that. Want to connect with other David Tennant fans? They have the info for how you can do that too. While the site has a massive amount of everything Tennant, it isn't overwhelming because everything has its place and is easily accessible. Then again, if you're a big Tennant fan, you're just going to spend your time clicking through all the pages anyway (like me)!

David-Tennant.com is definitely NOT a site to miss. If you want your site featured here next week and to get your shot at being the Site of the Month, submit your website at spotlight-site.tripod.com

Featured Friday: Aimee Jewellery
Topic: Featured Friday

This week's site comes from the UK bringing delicately made, hand-crafted jewellery. Aimee Jewellery has a specialty in unique headbands, perfect for weddings and special events. Aimee's creations have been worn by celebrities and featured in magazines such as Cosmopolitan Bride and You & Your Wedding.

Aimee has utilized the ability to customize the templates by changing the "Green Stripe" template to a grey stripe! This easy change seems simple but it really ties her whole page together. She also makes great use of the table add-on by showing off all of her work in columns and rows so that they will be evenly spread out.

Go and take a look at Aimee's collection at aimee-jewellery.co.uk, admire her site, and maybe order something for yourself!

If you want to see your site highlighted next week, submit it to spotlight-site.tripod.com

Featured Friday: James Scott Fans Online
Topic: Featured Friday

I'm not an avid soap opera watcher, but I have to admit, when I'm home on a day off and I happen to catch one, they really suck you in! Now you may be wondering, why is today's featured website post starting off talking about soap operas? Well, that's because today's site is all about James Scott, a popular actor from the hit soap opera, Days of Our Lives.

JamesScottFansOnline.com gives fans of the show and James Scott (of course) to read updates and fun facts. It was interesting to learn about all the philanthropic efforts that James Scott makes and how he is even the co-founder of his own foundation.

JSFansOnline makes great use of the customization option with our templates. They have edited one of Tripod's templates to make it unique to their site (and if you check out their Twitter page, you'll notice that the theme carries over there, too!) Along with the customization, you can see how they have utilized the photogalleries, videos and photo placement all within the builder.

Even if you're not a soap opera fan, Tripod highly suggests checking out JamesScottFansOnline.com!

Featured Friday: International Taijutsu Academy
Topic: Featured Friday

This week's featured site has both exhiliriating content and design. The International Taijutsu Academy is run by David Kawazu-Barber in Kamakura, Japan. David is originally from Sydney, Australia but has spent much of his life traveling around Asian countries and learning the martial arts.

So why did we pick this site? It is evident that a lot of time and effort have been put into making this site as visually striking and easy to gain information from. Don't speak Japanese? One of the main reasons why we chose this site was that they have created a whole translation of all of the important information on the site in their "View This Site In English" button. (Tip: if you use Chrome for a browser, it will ask if you want to translate any page that you come to that it does not recognize as your native language).

Using a mix of images and fun fonts to create the headings to the pararaphs is a great example how you can make your website more appealing. To get the look that David has created, you can create your headings in external programs like Photoshop or Illustrator to create vector graphics that will have "clear" backgrounds so that you can easily put them in any style you choose. Simply upload your custom created headers like a normal image and place them above your paragraphs.

Check out David's site (in both Japanese and English) at tai-jutsu.com

Featured Friday: Makeup By Dana
Topic: Featured Friday

Getting ready for a big event? Your wedding, prom, any special occasion? I don't know about you, but I am makeup illiterate. Today's Featured Friday winner is anything but. Makeup Artist, Dana Armstrong, has 12 years of experience in the makeup industry and has the portfolio to prove it.

Here's a little bit of Dana's background from her site: "My journey into the world of makeup began as a Theatre major at Illinois State University. Although I was studying acting all the time, my interest was spakred by a stage makeup course. I was instantly hooked, and started applying makeup to anyone who'd let me. By the time I graduated, I was designing special makeup for mainstage and experimental theatre projects for the department."

Dana uses her site as a great way to showcase her work as well as grow her business. She even highlights how she is featured on WeddingWire.com as one of the best places to get your wedding makeup done in the Chicago area (great job, Dana!). Even if your business has nothing to do with makeup, Dana's site is a great one to check out and model your business site after.

Congrats again to Dana! Check out her site here: MakeupByDana.com. Also, if you want to see your site here next Friday, submit your site at spotlight-site.tripod.com
