Featured Friday: Pyromatic
Topic: Featured Friday

Today's featured site is a great example of ways you can use different add-ons to make your site awesome! Pyromatic.net is the Official Site of the band Pyromatic.

Starting under the name Vaigas in 2004, Pyromatic has been known for their rocking performances and their "attention to detail songwriting approach." Their attention to detail is also evident in their website. The site is incredibly easy to navigate and with the home page giving news updates about the band, it is easy to keep their visitors in the loop.

The guys at Pyromatic have also made great use of add-ons like Flickr and various social add-ons. Their Flickr album is full of pictures of the band and merchandise and you can easily share their page through a variety of social channels or see their Facebook wall right on their page.

Check out Pyromatic today - if not for the music (which you should check out anyway!), but for the awesome web design.

Featured Friday: Math Rules!
Topic: Featured Friday

Today we are spotlighting one of the many educational sites on Tripod. Shirley Sinacore has a doctorate in Educational Leadership and multiple degrees in mathematics and education. The website, "Math Rules!" is a perfect resource for anyone who wants more tips about math from basic algebra to trig.

One of the most interesting sections of the website is "Math Anxiety." One of my colleagues has professed that she definitely has math anxiety and loved the fact that this website validates her feelings (also, it lets her know that she's not alone!). Each section has great links referring you to in depth explanations and guides to different rules and equations.

So math might not be your favorite thing, but this website is still awesome and worth checking out! Visit it today.

Featured Site: FDCam.com
Topic: Featured Friday

Sorry that this post is delayed, but better late than never! Today's featured site is all about the FD Cam - a camera that firefighters can attach to their helmets to record when they're out on a call.

When asked why he thought we should feature his site, Scott from FD Cam said, "Our site is an interactive multi product retail site. We've paid explicit attention to detail & for a very minimal cost we have produced a website that far exceeds our expectations AND looks better than a lot of the expensive hosts we've researched. Not to mention, our site just plain looks bad ass!" Couldn't have said it better ourselves, Scott!

Even if you're not a fire fighter, the site is pretty interesting to look at. There are videos taken with the cam that anyone would find interesting. Check it out today at FDCam.com

Featured Friday: Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild
Topic: Featured Friday

This week's site was chosen based on its attractive design, ease of navigation, and the fact that there are two identical French and English sites! Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild is based out of Quebec (hence the alternative French site). If you are in the dark about what "Hooking" is, it is a fun way to create rugs, usually with great designs, using a hook tool and strands of yarn.

Check out the Featured section or the Gallery to see some fantastic examples. Some of the members of the Guild create their rugs with such detail, it's shocking to think it's just a rug!

Definitely check out the website to see the different rugs that they have created plus to see the excellent design and layout. Visit the site at beaconsfieldrughooking.com or beaconsfieldrughooking.com/fr/ for the French version!

Don't forget to vote for your favorite site from the month of April for the site of the month! Vote now!

Featured Website: Horror Fan Review
Topic: Featured Friday

Do you love movies that terrify and gross you out?  Do you battle with friends over the greatest horror movies of all time?  Horror Fan Review site is the place for you.  Site owner, John has crafted a terrific site that features all things that make horror movies great - the music, gore, and of course the scares!  There are interviews with stars of great B-movies plus a whole section called “The Splatter Zone” that highlights some movies for their intense gore.  Though that style of horror isn’t my cup of tea, the page was incredibly informative and makes me wonder how movie making magic made some of those scenes happen!

My favorite sections of the site are the “10 Scariest Movies of All Time” and “Top 50 Horror Films”.  John’s diversity in his selections is what makes those lists so great and I completely agree with his Number One pick.  I was also thrilled to see some love given to what I feel is a great (if little seen) horror flick “Darkness Falls”.

Plus, I loved reliving my initial reaction to the listed films such as “When A Stranger Calls”, I was so terrified that I decreed I would never babysit children - ever!  There are some great classic films listed which warms my heart even if they freaked me out as a kid.  Still won’t swim in a lake because of the Creature of the Black Lagoon!  Enjoy the movie reviews and be sure to take the poll on the Best Classic Horror movie.

Check it out today!

The easy navigation and neutral color pallete makes the website attractive and easy to navigate around. Information is a breeze to locate and the accent of red in Sandeep's logo stands out in contrast to the grayscale colors on the rest of the website.
